EMC Plus and Charge Plus Masters Workshop

Workshop Detail:

The EMC Plus and Charge Plus Expert Workshop is specialized training designed to provide in-depth knowledge and experience with EMA’s EMC Plus and Charge Plus software tools. These tools are essential for simulating and solving complex electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) challenges in various industries.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the following:

  1. Fundamental Concepts:
    • Introduction to EMC Plus and Charge Plus software
    • Overview of theory in Charge Plus
    • Overview of theory in EMC Plus
  2. Practical Applications:
    • Simulating ESD in electronics
    • Use of the tool for HV breakdown in the power industry and in switches/breakers
    • RF Plasma problems, such as PECVD, electron guns, and space applications
    • Simulating EMC in full devices with PCBs, enclosures, and cables
    • EMC in vehicles including aircraft, automobiles, and heavy industrial equipment
  3. Advanced Techniques:
    • Deconflicting cables, preparing surface models, and complex modeling techniques for EMC Plus
    • Detailed procedures for simulating EMC in large platforms such as aircraft and automobiles
    • Techniques for modeling and analyzing the electromagnetic behavior of internal data-carrying cables
    • Addressing challenges like cross-talk, radiation, and interference within cable harnesses
    • Using digital simulations to predict EMC performance and meet electromagnetic environmental effect (E3) requirements, including lightning strikes and strong electromagnetic field conditions
    • RF Plasma simulation features
    • Automation, APIs, and AI/ML
  4. Hands-On Training:
    • Interactive sessions with real-world examples
    • Step-by-step guidance through various electrostatic discharge simulations
    • Tips and best practices for navigating the EMC Plus and Charge Plus ribbons and the Discovery interface

By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the skills to effectively use EMC Plus and Charge Plus for improving product safety, reducing company liability, and enhancing overall design efficiency.

A large theme of the workshop will be simulation for certification in aerospace and defense. Instructors will cover simulation for E3 topics including lightning, HIRF, and EMP. We will discuss the concrete steps to develop complex models of full vehicles, including structures and cables. The complex modeling topic is applicable to aerospace vehicles as well as automobiles and industrial equipment.
